Trucks carrying desperately needed aid have begun entering Gaza from Egypt as Israeli restrictions are eased.

Dozens of Palestinians have starved to death as a result of what the UN says is a man-made crisis . Israel cut off all supplies to Gaza from the start of March. Emir N is in Jerusalem.

 

Aid agencies have repeatedly complained about when they're trying to bring aid in to the Gaza Strip from the border, that they are often coming under fire by Israeli troops. We've seen repeated deadly incidents, including just yesterday morning. So , if the aide agencies feel that they are assured that they can bring in convoys safely without danger to civilians, then we could see a scaling up of the amount of aid being brought into the Gaza Strip. Israeli troops have boarded a boat that was trying to bring aid to Gaza by sea. The pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition said the vessel Handala was intercepted in international waters. Israel said its navy stopped the boat from illegally breaching the blockade of Gaza.

There's been less focus on the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan than in Gaza, despite the multiple reports of mass starvation. El Fasher has been on the siege since April last year, and food supplies are almost completely depleted. The United Nations says over one-third of children under five in displacement camps, are acutely malnourished, describing the situation as appalling. Community kitchens have been forced to close. Residents have reportedly resorted to eating animal feed. Rights groups continued to call for urgent international intervention.

Cross-border fighting between Cambodia and Thailand has continued for a fourth day despite an intervention by press. President Trump, Mr. Trump has told the leaders of both countries there will be no talks on reducing US tariffs until the fighting stops.

Thailand says it's willing to consider a ceasefire, but is sticking to its previous demand that dialogue with Cambodia must come first. Shelling continued along the border overnightnight, even after the US president's calls. However, his threat to suspend talks on reducing the punitive tariffs he's imposed on both countries is likely to force their hands. Both have struggling economies, heavily dependent on exports to the US.

The President of the European Commission, Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is in Scotland for trade talks with President Trump at his golf resort at Turnberry. On Friday, Mr. Trump said there was a 50-50 chance of a trade deal , Senior EU officials have also been sounding positive.

At least six people have been killed and 25 others injured in a crush at a Hindu temple in northern India. Thousands of people had gathered in the city of Haridwar at the popular Mansa Devi Temple.
